Boho Casino AML & Verification Policy

Our AML and Verification Policy

This page sets out, in plain terms, how we at Boho Casino meet our anti-money-laundering (AML) obligations and when we verify your identity. We hold licence 8048/JAZ2019-000 issued in Curaçao, and every rule below follows from that licence and from the standards expected of a responsible operator.

Our AML Commitment

We operate under Curaçao licence 8048/JAZ2019-000, owned by Hollycorn N.V., and that licence binds us to a full anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing programme. In practice this means we must know who our players are, understand where their funds come from, and report suspicious activity rather than ignore it.

We do not accept deposits from third parties, we do not allow accounts to be used as a payment channel for other people, and we refuse any transaction we believe is not tied to genuine gambling. Our compliance team is appointed by us, reports to senior management, and has the authority to block a transaction or an account while a review is under way.

  • Player due diligence at the points described on this page
  • Ongoing monitoring of deposits, withdrawals and betting patterns
  • Screening of players against sanctions and politically-exposed-person lists
  • Internal reporting of suspicious transactions to the relevant authority

When We Verify You

Verification runs on a risk basis, but three moments always trigger it: when you register, before your first withdrawal, and at any point where your cumulative transactions or betting behaviour reaches the thresholds set in our internal risk policy. Registration checks are electronic and usually invisible; the document stage normally begins with your first withdrawal request.

We ask for three things. First, proof of identity: a government-issued photo ID such as a passport, driver licence or national ID card, valid and showing your full name, date of birth, signature and expiry date. Second, proof of address: a utility bill, bank statement or official letter issued within the last three months in your name at your stated address. Third, proof that the payment method is yours: a photo of the card (with middle digits covered), a screenshot of your e-wallet account profile, or a crypto wallet confirmation showing the sending address.

  • Registration: electronic identity and age check (18+ only)
  • First withdrawal: full document verification, reviewed within 48 hours
  • Threshold review: triggered by cumulative deposits, unusual patterns or high single transactions
  • Payment method check: proof of ownership before funds are returned to you

How Verification Works

Step by step

The process is deliberately simple so that a straightforward case is closed within 48 hours of us receiving clear documents. You upload everything through the secure verification area of your account, so nothing travels by public email or chat.

  • 1. We request verification and specify which documents we need.
  • 2. You upload photos or PDFs through your account's verification page.
  • 3. Our compliance officers check each document for validity, legibility and consistency with your account details.
  • 4. If something is unclear, we contact you and explain exactly what to fix.
  • 5. Once approved, your withdrawal is released and your account is marked as verified.
  • 6. Ongoing monitoring continues in the background, with no further action needed from you.

How your documents are protected

Uploads are transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored on access-restricted systems. Only compliance staff who need them for a verification decision can view them. We never share your documents with third parties except where the law requires it, for example a suspicious-activity report to the authorities.

When We Ask About Source of Funds

For most players, identity and payment-method checks are the end of the story. Where deposits are large relative to a player's profile, arrive in an unusual pattern, or where our monitoring flags a transaction we cannot explain through normal gambling behaviour, our licence obliges us to understand where the money comes from before we can continue.

This is not an accusation. It is a legal requirement applied to the transaction, not to you personally. Acceptable evidence is ordinary: payslips, bank statements, a tax return, a letter from an accountant, evidence of a property sale, an inheritance document, or a business revenue statement. We tell you exactly what will satisfy the check, and we keep the request proportionate to what triggered it. Funds we cannot assess are returned to the verified source method.

How We Monitor Transactions

Every deposit and withdrawal passes automated screening for structure, velocity and consistency with your verified profile. The same-method rule applies throughout: withdrawals go back to the same method you used to deposit, in proportion to what you deposited with each instrument, so that money never leaves through a channel it never entered through. Withdrawals start at 15 AUD and are capped at 6,500 AUD per day and 24,000 AUD per month.

Crypto and e-wallet payouts are processed instantly to within 24 hours; Visa, Mastercard and bank transfers take 1 to 5 business days. We charge no fees of our own, though your payment provider may. Where a transaction profile changes sharply, including a series of deposits just under a reporting threshold, our systems raise it for a compliance officer to review before anything is blocked.

If Verification Fails

If your documents do not arrive, do not match your account details, or cannot be read, we put a hold on withdrawals rather than on your account as a whole: you can still log in and play, but nothing leaves the account until the file is complete. We always state the reason and what will resolve it, and you keep the right to ask questions through our support team, available 24/7 on live chat or at [email protected].

If we receive nothing after 30 days of reminders, or if documents appear forged, or if we hold a genuine suspicion of money laundering, stronger measures follow: permanent account closure, forfeiture of winnings tied to the breach, retention of all records, and a report to the competent authority where required. A decision to close an account is ours and is not a penalty imposed lightly, but we will not compromise the controls our licence demands.

  • Missing or unclear documents: withdrawal hold, account stays open
  • Mismatched details: hold until you explain or correct the discrepancy
  • Suspected false documents: suspension pending review
  • Suspected money laundering: closure, fund freeze and regulatory report

How Long We Keep Records

We retain verification documents, transaction records and monitoring decisions for five years after your account closes, or for the period specified by our licence, whichever is longer. Retention is not optional: a regulator can audit us at any time, and our records are the proof that each check was actually performed. After the retention period, documents are securely destroyed.

While records exist, they sit under the same access restrictions as during verification. You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you at any time by contacting [email protected], and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe and in line with our privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

When do I need to verify my Boho Casino account?

An electronic check runs at registration, and full document verification is required before your first withdrawal. Further checks may be triggered by higher transaction thresholds or unusual activity.

How long does verification take?

We review complete, legible documents within 48 hours of receiving them. If anything is unclear, we contact you with specific instructions.

Why must my withdrawal go back to my deposit method?

The same-method rule is a core AML control: funds must leave through the channel they entered through, which prevents accounts being used to move money between unrelated payment methods.

What happens if I don't send my documents?

Withdrawals are put on hold, and after 30 days without a response we may close the account. Winnings tied to the unverified period may be forfeited if the licence requirements are breached.

Do you ever ask for proof of where my money comes from?

Yes, in specific cases: large deposits, unusual patterns, or transactions our monitoring cannot explain. We ask for ordinary evidence such as payslips or bank statements, and only what is proportionate to the case.
